Types of Accommodation in Boracay

According to the Philippine Department of Tourism Accreditation Rules and Regulations, hotels should have at least 18 square meters of floor area, cold running water, telephones, cold drinking water, room service, air conditioning in the rooms. Hotels should also have a restaurant, shop, laundry service, emergency power, good security and medical service. Boracay hotels are classified into four classes: De Luxe Class, First Class, Standard Class and Economy Class.

Resorts are categorized according to location. “Beach resorts” are located along the seashore, “inland resorts” within the town or city, “island resorts” located in a natural or man-made island. There are also “lakeside”, “riverside” and mountain resorts.

Boracay resorts are classified and accredited as Class “AAA”, Class “AA”, Class “A” or a Special Interest Resort.
